A New Hope was the product of my Immersive Game Level Design unit. The goal was to create a new level for the first person shooter game Overwatch. This meant we had to allow for the multiple heroes playstyles, such as high flying heroes, create choke points throughout the level, create capturable objectives, and place health packs. We were also tasked with creating the level using Probuilder to give us an understanding on what a powerful prototyping tool it is. This is also why the game runs terribly.
A New Hope was tricky for me to design because I had not played a lot of Overwatch. This put me at a disatvantage as I was unfamiliar with some of the more finer mechanics and intricacies involved with a lot of the existing levels. In the end, I don't think A New Hope is a suitable level for Overwatch, and because I had forgotten about the high flying heroes like Pharah until halfway through building it, the scale of the level feels very off, being too oversized. However, I believe the environment could have its place somewhere else if it were to be scaled back down and fine tuned (and optimised).
